Banish those soapy chemicals
By Samantha Lucken
Do you wash with a bar of soap? Your hands? Your face? Your body? Your children's bodies? Are you trying to reduce the amount of chemicals that you have around you within your home? If the answers to these questions are yes then have you given any thought to the bars of soap that you may be using to wash yourselves with? Next time you go to purchase a bar do take the time to look at the ingredients list. Is it a long list? If yes then that is probably not so good. Does it contain any of the following? sodium hydroxide, tetrasodium EDTA, tetrasodium etidronate or cl 77891? The first three chemicals are all known to be irritants and cl 77891 is actually titanium dioxide. Information is hard to come by but this chemical has been linked to reduced fertility and a reduced chance for a full term healthy pregnancy. Further information on all of these chemicals and more can easily be found on the world wide web or in libraries. I share this information with you to get you thinking about what you are actually using and applying to your skin on a daily basis. There are now an increasing number of natural, hand-made soaps on the market from leading organic and natural stores. Check the ingredients list; the shorter, very often, the better. One such example is the range of soaps from Simply Soaps. The ingredients of their calendula and lavender soap bar are Water, Saponified oils of Olive, Coconut, Sunflower and Palm, Lavender essential oil, Organic Calendula petals. These are all plant derived, with no man made chemicals or harsh additives. The soaps are 100% natural and made in woodlands in Norfolk. Your skin will not be left feeling dry or tight and the soap will be a true pleasure to use. Go on, treat yourselves today. |
